I am Ruthan Brodsky and the author of this blog.
I’ve been fascinated with aging since I enrolled in a Gerontology curriculum for post-master students – 30 years ago! Now I’m among the senior citizens that I once studied. And to be perfectly frank, I’m still not sure how that happened.
My goal is to look at aging as if it were a diamond with a multitude of facets – dazzling, seldom dull. Most of the time we think of aging as down time – our pace slows, our brains don’t function as well or as fast, our bodies sag, and some of our cells stop producing. All of that may be so – I know the sagging has started for me! Even so there’s so much we don’t know about what we are capable of as we age. I’m planning on emphasizing those areas of aging.
I write this Welcome even though it’s going to take me a couple of weeks to complete the format. My thinking is that in the inbetween time you can scroll down to ‘Comments’ and tell me what topics you would like me to cover in this blog.
Or better yet, tell me your story – about the adventure of aging and what you’ve learned about yourself.
Keep in touch. Cheers!
Ruthan
